Question:

Are you still drawing/painting/doing the whole art thing?

Answer:

Hey barndon/brandon!
Yes, I am still “drawing/painting/doing the whole art thing”, although not at this moment. With SAT subject tests and such around the corner and the survival of the last interminable increments of school on my plate, I’m sorry to say that not much art is being served. I find it difficult to fit in time for a fully finished piece, just because i tend to finish one work in a single sitting (sevenish hours during which the only thing I don’t ignore are my brush, paint, and headphones). On the sunnier side, the tidbits of time I find to myself I spend sketching away and developing ideas for new illustrations to come.
Because maybe your question might be whether I am pursuing art as a career, I’ll answer that too. I’ve been sure for fourteen years that art was my passion, calling, “mojo”, if you will. But this stubborn fifteenth year beckons at other possibilities. No, it’s not the mother yakking “Y U NO BE DOCTA?!?”, (lol at rando asian accent because my mom speaks flawless English) It’s me wondering what I’m actually going to do with my life if I do pursue art. I mean, sure there are art applications like product/industrial design, film media, marketing and advertising, but to be honest I don’t think I’d be all that happy. I’m not saying that I’m giving up on art because I don’t see my future for it, but I am keeping my options open. And that starts with my SAT subject tests so don’t mind while neglect my hygiene (and tumblr) this week.
